Biographical Information
Megan Cooper is a NC native and a Double Tar Heel alum (BA in Psychology and Masters of Social Work). She has experience in a variety of treatment settings (inpatient, residential, IOP/PHP, and outpatient). She enjoys taking a person-centered approach to therapy, catering the sessions based on what works for the client. Third Wave CBT therapy models (CBT, ACT, DBT, Mindfulness, Compassion-Based) and trauma-informed therapy models (ART, IFS, Polyvagal Theory) are used most often, sometimes with additional creative approaches like art therapy and music. Megan loves to teach people concrete skills and concepts to use in their daily lives while making space in the therapy session to process anything they like. Her approach to therapy can be described as “professional and pleasant.” While her professional interests are many, her current goals for clinical growth focus on the treatment of trauma across the lifespan.
