A program to support emerging adults in launching an independent life
LAUNCHING provides life skills education and social networking opportunities in weekly small group meetings. Young adults build the confidence and skills to transition to independence. These young adults are “stuck” in their development and their families are similarly stuck, not knowing how to help their young adult move forward. There is also a monthly parents group to provide support and education.
Age Range: high school seniors (about 17) – late 20s
Program Length: dependent on participant; most people stay in the program for approximately 15 months
Participants: typical challenges facing participants include ADHD, social anxiety or other anxiety disorder, high functioning autism, and/or depression. Before joining the group, many participants have become uncertain of their next steps in life and are socially isolated.
Group Dates and Locations: Groups are held at HRC Behavioral Health & Psychiatry.
– Raleigh: Mondays at 10:00am and 5:00pm (4201 Lake Boone Trail, Suite 201)
– Chapel Hill: Tuesdays at 10:30am and 4:30pm (100 Europa Drive, Suite 260)
