Michael Griffin, PhD
Professional Biography
Dr. Griffin received his PhD from the University of Alabama after completing an internship at UNC-CH. He completed a fellowship at Florida State Hospital and worked at Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility in Alabama for two years. He has also maintained a private practice providing psychological services ranging from clinical evaluations to consulting. Dr. Griffin offers such services as intelligence and personality testing, individual and couples therapy, anger-management, and mindfulness meditation training. Dr. Griffin's specialty is in both criminal forensic assessment (e.g. competency to stand trial and waive Miranda rights, dangerousness and/or sex offender risk, mental state at time of the offense, mitigation/diminished capacity, or adult court waiver) and civil forensic assessment (e.g. disability determination, workers compensation, impact of trauma, and civil competencies). He has been awarded the title of Certified Forensic Examiner and is listed with the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
